TCL Group - Northwick Park Hospital

Fire Door Remedial Works

On behalf of Network Homes, PFS Network completed a Fire Door Survey at Northwick Park Hospital. Upon completion, it was noted that numerous fire doors didn’t meet current legislations. Due to the large amount of non-compliant doors, PFS Network worked closely alongside TCL Group to find a cost-effective solution in gaining full compliance for this building. It was therefore agreed that PFS Network would complete Fire Door Remedial Works to the highest standard to ensure all doors would comply with current British Standards.

Established in 1985 as Topcoat Construction led by Steve Purdy (Managing Director) the business soon developed and, following successful expansion, Limited Company status was achieved in 1995. TCL Group is led today by Steve Purdy, Howard Jones, Denese Disley and Loren Purdy with responsibility for the management of the organisation, supported by the divisional management team.

By implementing a programme of planned, organic growth they now deliver a comprehensive range of services to meet every type of construction need from responsive and planned maintenance through to major refurbishment and new-build projects.

Northwick Park Hospital is a major National Health Service hospital situated in the town of Harrow, North West London, managed by the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. The Hospital was commissioned by the North West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board in the late 1960s and was opened by the Queen on 10 October 1970.

As the Fire Doors across five buildings in the NHS accommodation showed numerous signs of damage, the remedial works completed by our team included the replacement of damaged hinges, the installation of drop-down seals, firestopping behind architraves, the installation of fire door signage, the repair of damaged lipping to the door frame, the replacement of smoke seals and the replacement of glazing. This allowed our client to gain compliance without having to incur the cost relating to the installation of new fire door sets.

We are now confident to say that all fire doors in Northwick Park Hospital’s Accommodation comply with the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO).

The NHS has never been more widely needed and valued than it is right now so we are extremely proud to be working alongside them to keep hospitals and care facilities safe.
